While wearing the BUFF® Filter Tube with the Replacement Filter, does it protect me against COVID-19? 

The BUFF® Filter Tube acts as a physical barrier to reduce the transmission of airborne particulate by the wearer. When worn and used correctly, the 3-layer BUFF® Replaceable Filter system offers 98% filtration efficiency and high breathability. However, the BUFF Filter Mask is not certified or intended to be used as a medical-grade face tube or personal protective equipment. BUFF® does not produce or claim to produce products that prevent disease, illness, or the spread of viruses.


Does the BUFF® Filter Tube worn with the Replacement Filter, protect from the potential spread of COVID-19 to others? 

BUFF® Replacement Filters meet the performance requirements of the harmonised standard EN 14683:2019 + AC, with regard to Bacterial Filtration Efficiency (BFE%) and Differential Pressure (Pa/cm²) (Breathability), obtaining the Type I and II classification. However, the BUFF® Filter Tube is not certified or intended to be used as a medical-grade face mask or personal protective equipment. BUFF® does not produce or claim to produce products that prevent disease, illness, or the spread of viruses.


What is HEIQ V-BLOCK® treatment? 

HeiQ V-block NPJ03 fabric treatment is applied to the inside mesh filter pocket of the BUFF® Filter Tube, helping to reduce the build-up of bacteria and germs.


Can I compare the performance provided by the filters used with the BUFF® Filter Tube with a Surgical Mask? 

BUFF® Replacement Filters meet Bacterial Filtration Efficiency (BFE%) and breathability standard type I and II of the standard EN14683:2019 for Medical face masks.


Are there any other BUFF® products with tested filters as the BUFF Filter Tube? 

Yes, the BUFF® Filter Mask is the other BUFF® brand product with an accredited laboratory tested filter that block with 98% bacterial filtration efficiency.Also featuring our 3-layer, BUFF® Replaceable Filter system in a washable mask design made with CoolNet UV+®️ cooling technology fabric, the BUFF® Filter Mask is lightweight and breathable.


Is BUFF® Filter Tube breathable? 

Yes, highly breathable and comfortable for everyday active use when chosen to be worn with or without the BUFF Replacement Filter. The BUFF® Replacement Filter meets breathability performance requirements obtaining type I and II classification of the standard EN14683:2019 for Medical Face Masks.


When should I wear BUFF® Filter Tube? 

Worldwide, face masks have become an essential accessory for daily activities like grocery shopping, using public transport or going for a run. Considering the exceptional situation we are living these days, we recommend wearing your BUFF® Filter Tube when visiting businesses, closed spaces, when using public transport, and at certain workplaces (other than healthcare and similar) when involve physical proximity to many other people. However, we strongly recommend you follow your local safety guidelines and regional authority instructions.


When should I wear the  BUFF® Filter Tube?

The BUFF® Filter Tube is designed with purpose and built for all-day active use. We listened and then went to work - reengineering the fit, function, and needs of a filter mask - and the technical ease of how to protect yourself and others while staying active.


Can I wear the  BUFF® Filter Tube in hot weather?

Yes, the BUFF® Filter Tube is made with our Original® 95% recycled REPREVE® performance fabric which is engineered with a 4-Way, ULTRA STRETCH fabric construction that features UPF 50 protection and is approved and recommended by The Skin Cancer Foundation.



How do I  clean the BUFF® Filter Tube? 

Upon removing the 3-Layer BUFF®  Replaceable Filter, it is recommended to wash the BUFF® Filter Tube with hot water to ensure total disinfection. Care instructions are: Machine-wash safe at 60ºC/130ºF. Recommended delicate cycle and less than 30 mins washing program.

How often it is necessary to wash my BUFF® Filter Tube? 

The frequency in which the BUFF® Filter Tube is washed is dependent upon the usage type and time, as well as the environment conditions where it is being used.




How do I put on my BUFF  Filter Tube in a secure way?  

The BUFF Filter Tube is worn properly by covering the nose, mouth and chin of the user. The BUFF® FIlter Tube should mindfully be put on and taken off in order to prevent self-contamination.

How to wear step by step:

  1. Before putting on the BUFF® Filter Tube, wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water or with an alcohol-based solution.
  2. Place the filter in the mesh pocket with clean hands as instructed.
  3. Pull the BUFF® Filter Tube over your head and place around your neck, with the mesh pocket positioned at the top end of the product.
  4. Properly place the tube around your face, ensuring it covers the area over you mouth and nose.
  5. Positions the product nose seem on top of your nose to ensure accurate positioning.

How do I adjust my BUFF Filter Tube?

The BUFF Filter Tube can be adjusted for a better fit by raising or lowering the product against the back of your neck to find the most comfortable and secure position around your nose and mouth.


How many sizes of BUFF Filter Tubes are available?

The BUFF Filter Tube  fits most people and comes in two  Adult sizes and one Kids size.



Are the BUFF® Replacement Filters certified? 

BUFF® Replacement Filters have been tested by an accredited laboratory and meet the performance requirements of Bacterial Filtration Efficiency and breathability standard EN14683:2019 obtaining type I and II classification.


How do I place/insert a new filter? 

Before handling the filter on your BUFF® Filter Tube, wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water or with an alcohol-based solution. Then, insert a new filter into the interior mesh pocket of the BUFF® Filter Tube. Ensure that the filter is completely flat and fitted into the shape of the inside pocket and does not protrude from the upper edge of the inside pocket.


How long can I use a filter before it needs to be replaced? 

BUFF® Replacement Filters provide 98% Bacterial Filtration Efficiency up to 24 hours of use.


How many BUFF® Replacement Filters are included with the BUFF Filter Tube? 

Each BUFF Filter Tube includes five (5) BUFF® Replacement Filters.


Can I use other filters that are not from BUFF? 

It is not recommended to use other filter other that the BUFF® Replacement Filter, as we cannot ensure the performance of the combination of the mask and the filter.

The BUFF® Filter Tube has been specifically designed to be worn with the BUFF Replacement Filter to obtain maximum functionality and performance. The BUFF® Filter Tube incorporates an inside pocket created to perfectly fit the BUFF® Replacement Filter.

Manufactured by Ahlstrom-Munksjö with a special design to specifically fit the BUFF Filter Mask - meeting the performance requirements of the harmonised standard EN 14683:2019 + AC, with regard to Bacterial Filtration Efficiency (BFE%) and Differential Pressure (Pa/cm²) (Breathability), obtaining the Type I and II classification and have been packed in a clean room type according to the requests of the Standard EN ISO 13485 “Medical Devices. Quality Management System”.
